Veteran Fellowship Interview in WashingtonExec On-line Magazine
Washington, DC – On December 13, Kelly O’Connor, President of Efiia Cares, was interviewed with WashingtonExec about mobile technology and veterans programs—two incredibly significant issues within government today. With the growth of mobility and recent veteran-related legislative activity, government agencies and private companies are taking more active approaches to these dynamic changes in the workforce.
Within the IT domain, “mobility” takes many forms. Ms. O’Connor addressed the role of mobile apps in the growth of mobility in the government workforce. However, government agencies must develop a broader strategy that includes security, privacy, and data management, among other concerns to make mobility cost effective. Skilled project management—such as the Efiia Group’s mPMO offering—can support this approach by working with agencies to formulate an enterprise mobile strategy and establish cost benefits from mobile computing.
Ms. O’Connor also discussed the Veteran Fellowship Program, an initiative run though Efiia Cares, a 501c3 certified non-profit. The Fellowship is modeled after an executive MBA; fellows use their GI Bill to finish a degree while they are employed full-time with a respected large system integrator, such as Booz Allen Hamilton or CSC, who have already signed up for the 2011-2012 pilot program. The Fellowship differs from other veterans employment programs because it targets former enlisted veterans (instead of officers), provides long-term support for fellows, and offers a more integrated approach to education and employment.
Ms. O’Connor’s interview touched on multiple aspects of the Efiia Group’s capabilities and offerings supporting both the public and private sectors. The Efiia Group continues to expand mobile technology expertise and grow the Veteran Fellowship Program and similar veterans support programs.
