Not-for-Profit (501c3) Services
Efiia Cares was organized and is operated to provide federal, state, and local governments with pro bono/no-cost services that assist those governments to carry-out their governmental functions in an efficient and effective manner. With capabilities in program planning, process reengineering, and technology innovation, Efiia Cares is in a position to lessen the burden on government by assisting in governmental functions on a pro bono/no-cost basis. Efiia Cares is committed to building a culture of service to the government both within its organization as well as providing a mechanism by which others can participate in service to the government on a larger scale.
At a time when we are decreasingly separated by geographic boundaries and more rapidly able to connect and communicate on a global scale, the challenges faced by all members of our community are increasingly a shared responsibility.
We believe that we are part of a greater community than ourselves.
We Don't Just Work Here
Because our relationship with our larger community is at the core of our philosophy, The Efiia Group has launched Efiia Cares, a 501c3, not-for-profit designed to respond to areas of need in our world – specifically in our local communities around Washington DC. To put it simply, we don’t just work here, we live here too.
Efiia Cares relies on the knowledge and personal interests of our own staff to identify organizations and causes that we are best able to serve with our resources, time and ideas. Additionally, we strive to make better connections between public and private sector efforts to help our community. To date, we've supported disaster response, public health and veteran-related causes through our not-for-profit work.
We Are All in It Together
We don’t consider Efiia Cares as much of a charitable entity as a reinvestment in the community that is home to us all. By sharing our resources with our neighbors and fellow citizens, we look to a building a better, stronger and more sustainable society for us all. Pro bono consulting services and reuse of our Efiia Creations solutions are the primary ways in which we demonstrate our commitment to service.

Not-for-Profit (501c3) Services
One of Efiia Cares' first pro bono projects, the Buffalo Veterans Treatment Court, continues to be recognized as one of the most innovative and successful programs in the country.
The court was started in January 2008 to help veterans who commit non-violent crimes avoid jail time and get the support services they have earned. The program has been so successful that there are now more than 70 courts across the country, with more in development.
Efiia Cares created the court's website and continues to provide targeted outreach support in Washington DC. In July 2011, Judge Robert Russell presented the Efiia Cares team with a recognition award thanking the team for our work.

In July 2011, the Efiia Cares team received an award for their continued support of veterans and military familes. Judge Robert Russell and the team from the Buffalo Veterans Treatment Court thanked Efiia Cares for
"...their ongoing support of the Buffalo Veterans Treatment Court and their commitment to other veteran causes to ensure that no veteran is left behind."
Kelly O'Connor, President of Efiia Cares, was made an "Honorary Mentor" in the court's Peter Reibel Mentor Group.
Colonel David Sutherland, Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and his team were in attendance at the Efiia offices in downtown Washington D.C. for the ceremony.
Efiia Cares continues to support the Buffalo Veterans Treatment Court and other programs that support veterans and military families, most recently through an innovative new initiative targeting former enlisted veterans for executive management career opportunities, the Veteran Fellowship Program.

In April 2011, First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden launched the Joining Forces initiative to support military families. The initiative aims to increase awareness and action at the community level in support of military family needs.
Efiia Cares provided pro bono services in support of this effort for more than a year. Starting in April 2010, Efiia Cares provided program management and advisory services to coordinate the involvement of the non-profit community. Working closely with Leadership 18, a coalition of 23 of the largest non-profit organizations in the country including the American Red Cross, United Way, Catholic Charities and Goodwill, Efiia Cares helped the non-profit community effectively organize and provide services to Joining Forces.

Efiia Cares is piloting an innovative program that provides executive management career opportunities to former enlisted veterans.
Working with large defense contractors, technology companies and recruiting firms in the Washington DC area, the team is deploying a one-year pilot where companies will hire fellows and provide some schedule flexibility so that fellows can attend school on a part-time basis (similar to an executive MBA program model). The program is targeted to former enlisted veterans only, and is not limited to MBA or business programs.
The goal of the pilot is to develop a repeatable, scalable model that can be deployed nationwide to Fortune 500 companies, so that the private sector can more easily tap into the talent pool of former enlisted veterans for executive management career opportunities. If your company is interested in participating in the fellowship pilot during 2012, please submit an application.
The Veteran Fellowship has been featured on multiple news and media outlets:
